While the Seminar focuses on the general effective running of a university club, the Course is a far more practical affair. Lasting 3 days, the course focuses on developing the skills of aspiring trip leaders, giving them a greater level of expertise on the river.

The course takes place each Easter and is based in the Fort William area of the Scottish Highlands, taking advantage of the marvellous rivers in the area and giving you one of the best training environments in the UK.

The course is split into 2 levels, Intermediate (class 2-3) and Advanced (class 3 and above), meaning you can work at the level most applicable to you. Both courses cover topics like Group Dynamics and Management, Principles of Safety, Rescue Techniques, Incident Management and more. Each course is very practical and heavily scenario based.

There is no limit (within reason) to the number of places available to each university on the course. For more information or to book places, email bcustudentsafety@mail.com.
